Road users are advised that upcoming day-time road closures at Blaenllechau Road will result in there being no through access at the Rhondda end of the Llanwonno Mountain Route.
The day-time closures (9.30am to 3.30pm), starting from Monday, February 12, have been scheduled outside of peak travel hours to minimise disruption as much as possible.
Blaenllechau Road will close between its junctions with Commercial Street and Wind Street (9.30am-3.30pm only) for around four weeks.
This is required to deliver improvements and remedial work to the footway at Blaenllechau Road, with a full closure required due to the narrow nature of the road.
The Llanwonno Mountain Route will remain open, but there will be no through access at Blaenllechau. Appropriate signage will be in place to ensure motorists are aware of the closure.
The closure area and alternative route for motorists are outlined on the following map.
Access will be maintained for emergency services and pedestrians, while access to all premises will also be maintained. Cyclists should dismount and use the pedestrian access.
The scheme is being delivered via the Council’s 2023/24 Highways and Transportation Capital Programme.
The Council has appointed Calibre Contracting Ltd to undertake the footway works.
Thanks in advance to road users and the local community for your cooperation.
