After a hugely successful pilot last year, cold-water swims will return to Lido Ponty on October 19. The water temperature will be set at a reduced 15 degrees and weekend sessions will be filled with adventurous swimmers.
The cold-water swims attracted visitors from across the UK last year, from casual dips to those in training for competitions. It is hoped they will return for 2024.
Tickets for cold water swims will go on sale at 9am on Monday, October 7 via www.lidoponty.co.uk
There will be four cold water swims on Saturdays and Sundays, each session last 45 minutes and you can stay as long as you like within the session times.
At the end of the cold water swims – last session is November 24 – the water temperatures will return to 28 degrees for the Boxing Day and New Year’s Day events.
Cllr Ann Crimmings, Rhondda Cynon Taf Council’s Cabinet Member for Environment and Leisure, said: “It’s been another brilliant year at Lido Ponty and we were so pleased to welcome visitors from as far afield as Patagonia in Argentina to our beautiful attraction during the Rhondda Cynon Taf Eisteddfod.
“From early morning swimmers to those enjoying fun in the sun, it’s been an amazing season and we are so grateful to our customers, old and new, for spending their time with us.
“Cold water swims continue to go from strength to strength and we look forward to welcoming you to the October 2024 sessions.”
