The first phase of a significant repair scheme to drainage infrastructure will take place across several streets in Mountain Ash over the coming weeks.
The site activity will focus on repairing existing sections of a culverted water course piping and rebuilding manholes – across Victor Street, Cliff Street, Eva Street, Stream Street and High Street.
This phase of work will start from Monday, November 11, and will be completed next month.
There will be some minor local disruption while carrying out the scheme – including narrowed lanes for road users around some areas of work, to ensure safety for the public. There will also be a section of two-way traffic lights at High Street.
Some sections of footway will also be temporarily brought out of use, but a short and suitable diversion for pedestrians will be put in place where possible, and clearly signposted.
The work will be carried out by the RCT Streetcare team, and no road closures nor additional traffic management is anticipated to be required.
A second phase of work will follow in the New Year, focusing on other nearby areas of the network not addressed in phase one. Details will be communicated by the Council in due course.
The overall scheme is funded by the Welsh Government, with both phases of work representing a combined investment of more than half-a-million pounds.
