Following another successful cold water swimming season, the water temperatures will be turned back up to a toasty 28 degrees for the two special events.
Join us on December 26 – Santa hats are a must – for a heated swim and a festive hot chocolate for afters. Or start 2025 right with a family swim on New Year’s Day.
Cllr Ann Crimmings, Rhondda Cynon Taf Council’s Cabinet Member for Environment and Leisure, said: “And so we reach the end of yet another sensational year for Lido Ponty. The Boxing Day and New Year’s Day swims are ready to book.
“These are your last chances to enjoy a swim at Lido Ponty before the much-loved venue closes for maintenance before the main season resumes around Easter time. Be sure to get your space quick as they do sell out fast.
“This year has seen thousands of people enjoy Lido Ponty, with early morning swims, afternoon dips, family fun sessions and the increasingly-popular cold water sessions, to date, 770,000 visitors have enjoyed the venue since it re-opened in August 2015.”
“We always have a time to remember at Lido Ponty, but 2024 was special thanks to the National Eisteddfod, which was held in Ynysangharad War Memorial Park in August. Thousands of people from across Wales and beyond visited Pontypridd for the festival.
“We were delighted to be able to welcome them to Lido Ponty as part of their Rhondda Cynon Taf experience and are proud to say they loved their time in the National Lido of Wales.”
Tickets for both sessions will go on sale at 9am on Monday, December 2. Get yours quick as they sell out every year!
Both events are open to swimmers of all ages and wet suits can be worn if you wish. There are indoor heated changing rooms and showers for those who do not wish to brave the original al-fresco ones.
There will be five sessions running from 8am to 2pm on both days.
