Residents and road users are advised of overnight works next week on the pictured section of the A4058 near Llwyncelyn, to inform a future wall repair scheme.
Ground investigations will take place to the retaining wall supporting Clifton Row – from Monday, November 4, lasting around a week.
The work will be carried out in several overnight work shifts (7.30pm to 6am), to minimise disruption for road users.
It will require a single lane closure, managed by temporary traffic lights. The lane closure will be lifted at the end of each work shift (by 6am).
The Council has appointed Jackson Geo Services Ltd to carry out the investigatory work, which is subject to fair weather.
The work will include drilling two boreholes into the wall to provide information on the ground conditions, along with concrete cores to determine the wall’s construction thickness.
Trial trenches will also be excavated at the bottom of the wall to investigate its foundations, and the presence of any other service infrastructure.
This work will enable the progression of a detailed design solution to repair a failed section of the wall, which is currently supported by sandbags placed along the closed footway.
The temporary closure of the footway will remain in place following the works, to ensure safety.
