Storm Isha – Rhondda Cynon Taf

Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough is bracing for the significant impact of Storm Isha, as the Met Office has issued an amber weather warning for the region. The storm is forecasted to bring strong winds, reaching up to 80mph and heavy rain throughout Sunday and Monday.

Residents should expect severe weather conditions that could cause travel disruptions, damage to buildings, flying debris, and falling trees and branches. Residents are urged to secure any loose objects outside their properties.

The Met Office advises that outdoor activities may pose a risk to personal safety due to strong winds. Wooded areas and parks should be avoided during this time due to the risk of falling trees and branches.

For the duration of the weather warning, we are urging residents and businesses to remain alert and vigilant and to take extra care if undertaking essential journeys.

If you do have to travel, then please take extra care and drive to the conditions, allowing extra space between vehicles and extra time for journeys. Extreme caution is advised if you must travel on mountain roads due to their exposure.

Residents who have been previously issued with flood prevention measures (such as flood gates) should consider putting these in place during this time.

If you have any issues, please call the Council’s Emergency Out of Hours number 01443 425011 (across the weekend until 8.30am Monday).

Also, please follow the Met Office and the Council’s social media accounts for all the latest updates.
