Twelve years of Santa Appeal in Rhondda Cynon Taf

Bring joy to a child this Christmas with a donation to our annual Santa Appeal!

Now in its twelfth year, the Santa Appeal has made a huge difference to thousands of children’s lives on Christmas Day. This is only possible thanks to the overwhelming support of people across Rhondda Cynon Taf and beyond!

Every year wonderful residents, businesses, charities, and organisations donate thousands of gifts to children and young people who otherwise may not have a gift to open on Christmas Day.

Thanks to your generosity, all children and young people identified by Rhondda Cynon Taf Council social workers wake up to at least one gift on Christmas Day. Each gift will be thoughtfully selected by you which can include gift card vouchers, if you wish, for the older children on Santa’s list!

Supporting the 2024 Santa Appeal is simple – all you have to do is email Santaappeal@rctcbc.gov.uk or call 01443 425025 and tell Santa’s Helpers how many children you would like to donate a special something to this Christmas.

You will be given the name and age of a child. The name provided will be an alias to protect the child’s identity, but it will represent a real child in Rhondda Cynon Taf.

Our Santa Appeal Donation Line opens on Tuesday, November 5. Lines will be open from 9.30am to 4.30pm, Tuesday to Friday. The closing date to pledge your support is Friday, December 6, with all gifts needing to be with us by Monday, December 9.

Once you have the name and age of your chosen child or young person, you will be given details of your nearest gift drop off point. All gifts must be in open gift bags and at their collection point by Monday, December 9.

Santa’s Helpers will collect your gifts from the various collection points and ensure they are ready and waiting in homes to be opened by children on Christmas Day.

Councillor Gareth Caple, Rhondda Cynon Taf Council Cabinet Member for Health and Social Care, said: “Now it its twelfth year, the Santa Appeal has made a massive difference to so many young lives on Christmas Day. I am delighted that, once again, we can help those children and young people who may not otherwise have a gift to open.

“I send my heartfelt thanks to everyone who has previously donated, and who plans to donate this year. You are doing something incredibly special.

“The Santa Appeal is now an established Christmas tradition and thousands of gifts have been donated and distributed across Rhondda Cynon Taf over the years. The generosity of our local communities is overwhelming.

“Once again, we ask you to support us and donate what you can as we help others at this special time of the year. Together, we can all show that we care this Christmas.

“Thanks to your generosity, no child or young person will be left out at this special time of year.”
