Resurfacing of the Gelligaled Park footbridge in Ystrad will take place under a two-day bridge closure – and will be the final works activity to complete the ongoing repair scheme.
The resurfacing will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday (October 17-18) between 9.30am and 3pm, with the bridge remaining open in the early mornings, late afternoons and evenings.
The footbridge, located off Pontrhondda Avenue, will be closed to pedestrians and cyclists during the work hours.
An alternative route will be clearly signposted via A4058 Tyntyla Road – and is the same route that was used in previous recent closures.
The wider repair scheme has delivered significant masonry, concrete and scour repairs to the bridge, along with a parapet replacement and street lighting improvements.
The scheme has been delivered within a large programme of Storm Dennis repairs for 2023/24, funded by Welsh Government.
The Council would like to thank the community for their continued cooperation as the scheme enters its final stages.
