Could you, or someone you know, be missing out on Pension Credit?

Too many people across Merthyr Tydfil & Aberdare are currently missing out on Pension Credit so we’re encouraging anyone over State Pension age to check their eligibility.

Pension Credit gives you extra money to help with your living costs and, on average, is worth £3,900 per year.

If you’re eligible for Pension Credit you could also get other help, such as The Winter Fuel Payment, Council Tax Reduction and help with heating costs, among other things.

The application is easy, so we’d encourage you to do this by visiting www.gov.uk/pensioncredit

We’d also like to encourage anyone with friends or family members over Pensionable age to help them apply.

Applications close in December, so we want to support as many of our residents as possible with this before the deadline date.

If you’re unable to do this online we have staff available at the Town Centre Hub, Merthyr Tydfil, all this week from 10am – 3pm to help you with both the eligibility checker and application.

In Merthyr  Tydfil, Council staff will also be going out and about into other areas of the County Borough, including areas of the southern valley, to reach as many people as possible.

All you need to apply is:

  • Your Bank account details
  • State and/or Private Pension information
  • National Insurance Number
  • Information about savings, stocks, shares or bonds
  • For a joint claim you will need this information for both applicants.

You can get Pension Credit even if you have other income, savings, or own your own home, so please don’t miss this opportunity to check if you’re eligible!
